About Resilient Hope

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

‭‭-Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Christine Floyd, FDNY widow and mother of two, transformed her grief into a mission for healing by founding the Resilient Hope Foundation. The Foundation ensures that no young widow has to go through the pain of mourning alone.

The Resilient Hope Foundation provides counseling for widows, socialization groups, subsidized childcare, and community events to foster resilience and sustainable support through the waves of grief. With a focus specifically designed for backing the badge, both on and off the line of duty, we can offer professional guidance for survivors of FDNY, NYPD, and military personnel to find connection and hope.

Our Three Core Programs

Grief Counseling & Emotional Support

  • Join our twice-monthly group counseling sessions, led by licensed bereavement professionals, to have dinner and process topics like: loss, solo parenting, financial transition, and rebuilding identity. Parents and children meet separately and simultaneously with trained facilitators.

Socialization Groups & Community Engagement

  • You and your children need a safe space to find joy and hope outside of grief. Our monthly family events include games, food, and music to help build a community around you. At these events, you and your children have a safe space for connection, friendships, and natural healing from people who truly understand what you are going through.

Subsidized Childcare Services

  • Through our partnership with Sitter Network (L&A Babysitting Inc.), we provide affordable childcare on a sliding scale to help widows and widowers return to work, attend school, or access mental health support without financial barriers.
